Zone-tailed Hawk (Buteo albonotatus)

Zonies are quite the sight to see and sound to hear.  Sunflower, along the Old Highway 87 is where I saw my first Zone-tailed Hawks, which are among the loudest of the hawks.  They screamed as they soared over my head as if they were letting me know that the old highway was their canyon.

Zone-tailed Hawks are also very similiar in flight to Turkey Vultures, as they hold their wings in the "V" like flight dehydral the Turkey Vulture does.  The Zone-tailed Hawk has bands on it's tail, making that the separative identification mark from a Turkey Vulture, which they look very much alike beyond that.
