Area 7-Southwest Phoenix
The area of Southwest Phoenix is a diverse part of Maricopa County and is well worth exploring. It has great shorebird and waterfowl viewing hotspots, great agricultural habitat as well as excellent desert riparian locations. The Glendale Recharge Ponds are one of the best locations in Arizona to view shorebirds, and is the most popular spot in this area. The dull looking basins aren't so dull when full of birds! Tres Rios Wetlands is another excellent birding location here, along with other similiar locations. A birder can easily spend a full day birding the different hotspots this wonderful area has to offer.
