Overview: Located in the Indian Bend Wash area, Indian School Park is an attractive park in Scottsdale. This park has a nice sized pond/lake that is surrounded by tall trees that includes a nice chain of mesquites and a small stand of cottonwood trees. With the open water and surrounding trees, this park is a good place to look for migrants and wintering waterfowl. This park is on the north side of Indian School Road, where on the south side of Indian School Road is the Continental Golf Course. Paths go under street levels to easily lead to the golf course (which is almost connected to the park in a way), where the golf course has a nice sized pond with tall reeds and open water that is worth checking for waterfowl as well.
Birding Tip: This will be a good place to check especially during the spring and fall migrations for different songbirds. Winter will be good for waterfowl, especially at the golf course on the south side of Indian School Road. Paths go under street level through a tunnel to easily lead to the golf course pond.
Directions: Indian School Park is on the northwest corner of Indian School and Hayden Roads. Parking is available on the west side of Hayden Road, just north of Indian School Road. This park can be reached by the freeway route of the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway). Take the Indian School Road exit and head west on Indian School Road for 1.2 miles to Hayden Road. Turn north (right) on Hayden and continue shortly to the turnoff on the west (left side) of Hayden to the parking lot of Indian School Park.
