Rufous-backed Robin (Turdus rufopalliatus)

The Rufous-backed Robin is a rare stray from Mexico, but regularly winters at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum near Superior, Arizona.  Troy Corman and I went up to the Arboretum and got lucky as this Rufous-backed Robin gave us some good looks, until I got my camera out and it gave limited views the rest of the time.  At times two individuals were present, but we were only able to locate one of them.  A nice treat to see this bird!

This Rufous-backed Robin was found at the Hassayampa River Preserve in December of 2010.  It stuck around for me to see it on February 11th, 2011, where it foraged in the open for me at 4:30 P.M., as it showed itself finally after I had been searching for it throughout the day starting at 8 P.M., when the preserve opens.
