I found this Golden-crowned Sparrow luckily on the morning of March 19th, 2010 while hiking at the Seven Springs Recreation Area. This adult bird was surprisingly solitary. In Arizona where Golden-crowned Sparrows are very rare, they are almost always found amongst White-crowned Sparrow flocks. Ironically, I didn't see nor hear any White-crowns that day.
When I first saw this bird I noticed how different it was by it's black above the eye at my first side glance, but then it turned my direction where I saw the Golden-crown, a great and rare sight in Arizona!
